A Cosy Shepherd’s Hut in the Peak District

To celebrate Jonny turning 30 (how are we both 30 already!?) we ventured into The Peak District for a hiking weekend. We decided to treat ourselves to a spot of glamping and stayed in a luxury Shepherd’s Hut. The hut was situated on the edge of the National Park, beside the small village of Waterhouses.

The Lavender and Bee Shepherd’s Hut caught my eye whilst I was scrolling through Airbnb. It oozed luxury and looked like the ideal glamping experience for a 30th birthday celebration - a romantic hideaway, with a hot tub, outdoor kitchen and picture perfect views.

And wow - upon arriving we were so impressed and spent the first 15 minutes running around like excited school kids. We were amazed at the quality of the hut - and all the little extras included by the hosts, which really did make a special difference.

For our first staycation since the easing of lockdown, we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. I would 100% recommend this place to anyone and I know we’ll certainly be heading back at some point in the future!

Here’s a little sneak peak of our stay at the lovely Lavender and Bee Shepherd’s Hut…

The Lavender and Bee Shepherd’s Hut is a luxury glamping experience in the Peak District. Set in a beautifully remote area (we had the whole meadow to ourselves!), the hut is extremely private - perfect for a romantic getaway. We enjoyed incredible views across the Manifold Valley and couldn’t have asked for a more peaceful setting. Plus the local village is only a 10 minute walk away - with a great pub, perfect for that post hike pint!

Inside The Shepherd’s Hut, Peak District

The Shepherd’s Hut had everything we needed for the weekend - a cosy double bed, luxury en-suite bathroom and everything in between. There was even an indoor fireplace, ideal for the winter months or colder evenings. We were so lucky with the weather, so didn’t use the fireplace - but that’s just another excuse to return!

The Hot Tub was all set up ready for our arrival - and very much appreciated after a long days hike! Sipping a G&T, soaking in the views and reminiscing about our day in The Peak District - what could be more perfect?

We woke up early each morning to watch a stunning sunrise across the countryside. It was totally worth the 5:00am start (and yes we’re slightly mad). It was then back to bed with a cuppa, a good book and choccy digestive! We know how to live!

The Outdoor Kitchen - this is where we cooked all of our meals, from a full cooked breakfast each morning (we had a breakfast hamper waiting for us on arrival!) to steak and chips in the evening. Jonny was in his element!

We spent our evenings around the fire-pit, toasting marshmallows and enjoying a glass of red (or two…), before an early night in preparation for another day hiking in the Peak District!

glamping cheers!

As we were there celebrating Jonny’s 30th birthday, we enjoyed a bottle of bubbly (we honestly didn’t drink as much as our pictures might have you believe...). The Prosecco was a lovely gift left by the hosts of the Lavender and Bee Shepherd’s Hut, just one of the many surprises awaiting our arrival!

This was honestly such a perfect weekend for us - a few days full of walking, open countryside and quality time together, in such beautiful accommodation. Can we spend every birthday like this pleease!?

Over the next few weeks I’ll be writing about our hikes through the Peak District National Park, which is such a beautiful part of the world…. so be sure to check them out :) But in the mean time, if you have any questions about where we stayed and what we got up to, feel free to ask away in the comments section below!
