The Route.

  1. The Start

The journey begins at the entrance of The Pheasant Inn. With the pub at your back, turn left and stroll towards the road junction. As you cross straight over into Barracks Lane, you'll soon find yourself immersed in the tranquility of the Cheshire countryside.

  2. A Picturesque Descent

Follow Barracks Lane, keeping right at the junction past the car park and Craft Centre. As you descend down the narrow lane, take in the serene surroundings, passing by quaint cottages and embracing the occasional muddy sections that add to the rustic charm of the walk.

  3. Woodland Wonders

As the road meanders along the valley bottom, resist the temptation to veer off onto a footpath on the left. Continue past houses and cottages until the road bends right. At this point, turn left at the footpath sign, crossing a stile into a field. Traverse the field parallel to a stream on your right, passing through a footbridge into a scenic woodland area.

  4. Uphill Adventure

Exiting the woodland through a kissing gate, head uphill towards a stile in a crossing fence. The ascent continues parallel to the fence on your left, guiding you through more kissing gates and a farm track. The reward for your uphill efforts is the breathtaking view at the top of the hill, overlooking the Cheshire landscape.

  5. Sandstone Trail Serenity

Follow the path towards The Bungalow, passing through a belt of trees and a stile into a farm lane. After reaching the end of Coppermines Lane, cross the field on the Sandstone Trail, entering a woodland area. As you ascend through the trees, be sure to appreciate the views through the foliage over the Cheshire Plain.

  6. The Homestretch

After passing interpretative panels and a viewpoint showcasing the wooded slopes of Peckforton Point, the path begins to descend. Follow the trail downhill until you reach a farm track, where a left turn leads you past a sandstone house and through fields.

  7. Final Stretch: Returning to The Pheasant Inn

Follow the trail through kissing gates and along the field edge, eventually reaching Hill Lane. Turn left, following signs for Pheasant Inn and Beeston, and descend down Rock Lane. At the crossroads, turn right to complete the circular route and return to The Pheasant Inn.
